Electronicat
Biography1

I was offerded my first guitar when i was 10 years old and i started playing covers of neil young in the deep countryside where i was dwelling at the time (LAVAL, west of France, city of palindromes!).

Much later (1987), i got involded in an arty psycho-pop band (which could have been a mix of Electric Prunes, TRex, Prince and Nirvana!).
After a lot of gigs in france, and also a lot of time lost in studios, recording demos, eventually, i left the band at the moment we were supposed to sign with Polygram...

In the early 90's i bought my first home studio - a 4tracks Tascam -, i moved to Paris and began different collaborations with choreographers.
That's how i experimented electro-accoustic and live improvisation, using mics, fx, electronics, and prepared guitars. When Kurt Cobain died i was as much a fan of contemporary composers like la monte young, celsi, maderna as a fan of Lil'Louis, My Bloody Valentines and Suicide...

Most of the tracks i recorded during these years were live recordings of performances. Nothing is released yet. Meanwhile i performed as guitar player in a Noise Guitars Orchestra called Sleaze Art conducted by Kasper Toeplitz. I was playing with an electronic bow on a fretless guitar and loved to dive in an ocean of feedbacks and drones ...

In 1997 i began to sample my guitar sounds and started my first solo project "Electronicat" : bits of vocals, guitar stuff and analogic machines like tr808 drummachine, moog and all kind of distos, wah wah, delays used in psychedelic electro punky music... Noise Museum released me first solo album: "Electronicat" in 1998.
At the same time, I started a collaboration with the multi-media artist Cecile Babiole. We performed several gigs together, combining low-tech cumputer graphics (crazy moving and dancing spectrum creatures) and my Electronicat's tunes. In the last three years, i made several albums and 12"'s released on different labels. I have been staging live shows in different halls and festivals in Europe, America and Japan: Knitting factory (New York), Uplink Factory (Tokyo), Fondation Cartier (Paris), Festival of New Medias (Montreal), Futura (Sarajevo), PhonotaKtiK (Vienna), Batofar (Paris), la Laiterie (Strasbourg), Traffo (Budapest), Festival Nouvelles Scenes (Dijon), Podewil (Berlin), Studio 672 (Cologne), Obliques Lu Night (Nantes), Gulbenkian Fondation (Lisboa)...
